Beautiful New Lawnbott 3500 Robot Mower

Take a look at this bad boy of a lawnmower robot!  Coming soon from KA Home Robotics, the LB3500 robot lawn mower will be the new top of the line mower in their Lawnbott series, and what they call the most sophisticated lawnmower robot in the world.  Before taking a look at its capabilities, take a moment to admire its looks.  It’s so beautiful; you’d think they have Italian auto designers working for them.

Every Lawnbott model has bump sensors that allow the mower to gently bump and detect stationary objects.  The bump sensors on the LB3500 are much improved.  The 360° bumper shell “floats” over the chassis and detects objects in all directions. 

One of the biggest advances in this new model is the introduction of Bluetooth compatibility. You’ll be able to program and directly control the robot mower with any Bluetooth compatible mobile device such as your cell phone.  Using Bluetooth and your handheld device, you can set which days of the week and hours of the day the Lawnbott should come out of its charging base and mow the lawn.  When it’s done with it’s job, it makes its way back to the charging station for a refreshing, recharging nap until it’s time to wake up and go to work again. And get this: if an unauthorized user tries to walk away with it, an on-board alarm will sound, alerting you and your neighbors to thief.

The LB3500 is significantly larger and heavier (a good thing) than previous models, 33% larger and 25% heavier than the Lawnbott Evolution. It utilizes two lithium-ion batteries to handle its powerful drive motors, giving it a three hour working time with a 2.5 hour recharging time. It can mow on slopes up to 30° and maintain an area up to 38,000 sq ft at 65 feet per minute. A separate motor drives the 14 inch blade.  Software updates are available through the internet.

And what about safety? The LB3500 is sensitive to human touch, shutting off the power immediately if someone touches it.  It’s certainly safer than riding mowers and manual power mowers.

An electric robot mower will cut your grass every day, on its own, which many believe is better for your lawn than mowing once a week. That’s no pollution and no emissions...and no work. You save gas, and help the air quality.

A mower with these specs isn’t cheap. The List Price is $3699, with dealers offering discounted prices bring it closer to $3,000.  But, think about it. How much is your time worth, or how much do you pay your gardener over time? And how much is it worth to be able to sit drinking your beer and watching this robot mow your lawn?

How Does Lawnbott Work?

The LawnBott operates automatically and autonomously within a perimeter cable located on the ground which defines the area to be mowed.  . It can also work without a perimeter cable if working area is enclosed by a fence or small border at least 4 inches tall.

Once the mower leaves its docking station it starts mowing your yard in a random direction. It goes in a straight line until it bumps into an obstacle runs over its perimeter cable, at which time it will backup, turn and begin another straight line. If the computer brain senses thicker or taller grass it will go into spiral mode where it spirals outward from that area, eliminating any missed areas. When done mowing, or when the batteries start running low, the robot mower will search out the perimeter cable and follow it back to its docking station to recharge.
